Firm co-founder, Oliver Herzfeld, specializes in employment matters, commercial transactions and licensing, with a focus on:

• employment, professional services, separation and non-disclosure agreements;
• software, data and content licensing;
• trademark, copyright and trade secret matters;
• software development and maintenance agreements; and
• employment, discrimination, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, wage & hour and whistle-blowing claims.

Prior to founding the firm, Oliver worked in the corporate sector as chief legal officer of w-Technologies, a leading wireless software firm, and as general counsel of Capco, a technology solutions firm focused on financial services. Previously, Oliver served as functional general counsel of intellectual property, technology, and licensing at J.P. Morgan & Co. Incorporated. He began his legal career at Sullivan & Cromwell where he worked on a broad range of corporate and securities matters. Since 2003, Oliver has been of counsel at Joseph, Herzfeld, Hester & Kirschenbaum LLP while serving as SVP and Chief Legal Officer of The Beanstalk Group, LLC, an Omnicom Group-owned brand licensing agency and consultancy.

Oliver earned a bachelor of arts, cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University. He earned a JD with honors from Columbia University School of Law.

Oliver is deeply involved in several social service organizations in his community, is a mediator for the MediateArt program of Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, and performs pro bono legal work for not-for-profit organizations.
